| Level 40 — Elite level | 321 | Her post-evolution scan records Elite-level strength, nearly perfect development, and Psychic- and Normal-type energy concentrations exceeding 98% of her species. She gained Psyshock and Future Sight. |
Background / History
Gardevoir evolved from Kirlia at Professor Birch's research institute. Guided by her Inner Focus, she absorbed and merged the energies of a Mid-grade Psychic Crystal and Mid-grade Normal Crystal while drawing strength from her wish to protect Xinhai and the team. The evolution greatly increased her psychic power and deepened her bond with her companions 319.
Professor Birch judged her foundation and potential to be exceptional, attributing her refined appearance and tranquil temperament to the joy, trust, and affection she received while growing up with Xinhai 319. Shortly afterward, her Pokédex data placed her at Level 40 and the Elite level 321.
During the Slateport City Contest, she recognized the technical value of Coordinator battles and took particular notice of Suzuki Ai's Gardevoir's unusual use of Inner Focus. Suzuki's Gardevoir later became intensely drawn to her spiritual essence, describing it as pure, noble, and shaped by an environment of love and trust; the attention made Gardevoir uncomfortable, and she stayed close to Xinhai 336 339 340.
As Xinhai's team developed, Gardevoir became central to its training structure. She maintained gravity fields, performed wide-range reconnaissance, evaluated teammates' potion gains, and assisted in studying advanced techniques such as Rasengan and the proposed Tai Chi Yin-Yang Fish energy ball 360 413 463 508.
She has repeatedly served as one of Xinhai's decisive battlers. Her victories include defeating Winona's Altaria in the Fortree Gym battle and helping secure Xinhai's Mind Badge through prolonged battles against Yano Keisuke's Psychic-type team 550 766 770. During the battle against Wallace, she defeated Blastoise despite injury and exhaustion before being recalled against Slowpoke to prevent further depletion 820 827.
Appearance
After evolving, Gardevoir became a tall, slender Pokémon with an elegant, gown-like silhouette. She stands approximately 1.78 meters tall and weighs 52.1 kilograms 319 321.
- White body with a flowing skirt resembling a formal evening gown; the inner side of the skirt is green 319.
- Long, slim green arms and green hair that extends and curls backward 319.
- Red, jewel-like structures positioned on her chest and back 319.
- Deep red eyes described as gentle, insightful, and ruby-like 319.
- Her gown can become stained with mud and her right arm visibly bears marks after combat injuries 823.
Personality
Gardevoir is gentle, affectionate, and notably mature following her evolution. She openly expresses attachment to Xinhai, embraces him after major achievements, and often remains physically close to him when unsettled 319 340.
She is attentive in both domestic and battlefield settings. She prepares meals, serves food and drinks with precise psychic control, assists with housework, and monitors the condition of her teammates during training 344 346 463.
In battle, she is calm, analytical, and highly disciplined. Rather than relying on raw output alone, she studies failed attempts, identifies minute flaws in energy control, and immediately seeks improvements after mastering a technique 466. Even when exhausted and injured against Slowpoke, she insisted on continuing until Xinhai judged that withdrawing her was necessary 823 827.
Abilities & Skills
Telepathy
Gardevoir's Telepathy creates a direct mental link with Xinhai and enables rapid coordination without spoken commands 321.
- Shares battlefield information, warnings, routes, and tactical intent instantly with Xinhai and allied Pokémon 433 769 821.
- Senses nearby emotional states and subtle energy phenomena, including Weedle's unusually focused aura 528.
- Allows Xinhai to reinforce her through their long-developed spiritual resonance when her psychic reserves are depleted 826.
Inner Focus and Psychic Manipulation
Her defining combat strength is her unusually precise Inner Focus, which she uses to compress, shape, redirect, and sustain psychic energy.
- Formed shields capable of stopping Hurricane when layered with Light Screen and Reflect 515.
- Created a condensed psychic spear powerful enough to force Alakazam into reproducing the technique 767.
- Blocked Alakazam's Tri Attack and Espeon's Psychic simultaneously with a single reinforced psychic barrier 767.
- Demonstrated “Triple Focus” by using Swift to intercept five Shadow Balls while simultaneously maintaining a Psychic barrier against Espeon's enhanced Swift 768.
- Uses Psychic Fields as sensory tools, accurately tracking attacks such as Magnet Bomb while teleporting and counterattacking 941.
Teleport and Battlefield Control
Gardevoir uses Teleport for evasion, flanking, repositioning, and surprise attacks.
- Routinely appears in opponents' blind spots to attack with Psychic or Shadow Ball 549 823.
- Uses concealed Psychic Marks as teleportation anchors, enabling precise surprise assaults even amid anti-Teleport interference 515 516.
- Can be hindered when Krookodile's Dark Pulse Aura disrupts spatial coordinates across the battlefield 768 769.
- Maintains large-scale Gravity fields for team physical training 508.
Rasengan and Spiral Techniques
Gardevoir developed Rasengan as a precision-focused trump card after repeated experimentation.
- Her first stable Rasengan was a blue-white sphere roughly ten centimeters wide that drilled a smooth, half-meter spiral hole through rock in two seconds 466.
- At initial completion, it lasted about fifteen seconds, could be controlled within three meters, and lost a small amount of energy during use 466.
- Uses Spiral Shadow Ball variants by compressing and rotating Ghost-type energy; one clash with Altaria's Dragon-type attack generated an explosion powerful enough to tear through clouds 549.
- Coordinated with her Substitute to collide a black Spiral Shadow Ball with a blue-white Spiral Power Ball, creating an annihilation storm that shattered multiple Protect barriers 516.
Cross-Type and Physical Techniques
Gardevoir supplements Psychic-type combat with varied techniques and unconventional movement.
- Hyper Voice — reinforces sound waves with Inner Focus for physical impact and mental disruption 550.
- Magical Leaf — can reinforce dozens of leaves with Inner Focus into an emerald storm capable of cutting through spinning Hydro Pumps 821.
- Quick Attack and Jump Kick — used to break through Alakazam's Shadow Ball trap; she combined Jump Kick with Psychic and Tai Chi-inspired force borrowing to vault over his defensive barrier 769.
- Fire Punch — used to melt Ice Beam frost from her right arm and restore most of its movement 823.
- Spiral Water Pulse — reversed the rotation of Wallace's combined water attack, causing its same-Type energy to cancel itself out 813.
- Ally Switch — exchanged positions with Eevee to continue a coordinated counterattack against Wallace's team 813.
Healing and Support
Gardevoir provides medical and logistical support in addition to combat.
- Uses Life Dew for controlled healing, including treatment of injured opponents when Xinhai needs them stabilized rather than fully restored 480.
- When surrounded by residual primordial life energy, her Life Dew transformed into an emerald version with healing effectiveness comparable to four or five ordinary uses 594.
- Was assigned to battlefield triage, using Life Dew for the wounded while supporting the front line with Inner Focus 583.
- Uses fine psychic control to serve meals and drinks without spilling, even while managing food for multiple Pokémon 344.
Long-Term Technique Development
Xinhai intends for Gardevoir to eventually develop the Tai Chi Yin-Yang Fish energy ball, an attack formed by compressing two opposing energy spheres into a rotating Tai Chi-like structure. Their mutual repulsion would create an annihilating explosion, but the technique remains a long-term goal because her Solar Energy comprehension and psychic development are not yet sufficient 413.
