Early the next morning, Xinhai slowly woke to the sound of birds chirping outside the window.
The sky outside was already bright. Sunlight filtered through the thin curtains into the room, spreading a warm glow across the floor.
He turned his head and saw Eevee sitting on the windowsill, its tail gently swishing behind it. Its large brown eyes were fixed intently outside—several Pidgey stood on the rooftop opposite, preening their feathers and giving soft, peaceful chirps.
"Eevee." Hearing him stir, Eevee turned around and gave Xinhai a soft, fluffy good-morning greeting.
"Good morning, Eevee!" Xinhai sat up and rolled his neck.
After soaking in the hot spring the night before and enjoying a full night of dreamless sleep, all the fatigue that had accumulated in his body had completely vanished, replaced by a long-lost sense of lightness and clarity.
He walked to the window and gazed with Eevee for a while at Lavaridge Town bathed in the morning light, then turned and went into the living room to perform two sets of the Dewford Twelve Forms and Tai Chi.
After breakfast, Xinhai put every item into his Spatial Backpack one by one, then carefully checked the room again to make sure he had not left anything behind.
Standing in the middle of the living room, he gave the room he had lived in for two weeks one final look. Sunlight poured through the open window, making the pale curtains billow slightly, while Lavaridge Town's distinct morning sounds—mingled with birdsong—drifted in from outside.
He gently closed the door and headed down the corridor toward the elevator.
While checking out in the lobby, Nurse Joy returned his Pokédex with a gentle smile. "Mr. Xinhai, you're welcome to visit Lavaridge Town again. Have a safe journey."
"Thank you." Xinhai accepted the Pokédex
