A handsome 185-centimeter high school senior was taking the most important exam of his life—the Gaokao.
He stared at the test paper, his mind completely blank, as if someone had just cast a spell on him. The knowledge in his memory slipped through his fingers like sand.
"It's over! It's over! It's over! I'll never get into college in this life!"
He was frantic, staring miserably at the tangled, complicated questions, unable to stop himself from lamenting, "All that studying this semester was such a waste of my precious youth!"
Just as he was about to despair, his head spun and his vision began to blur.
Just when he thought he was about to faint, a powerful suction force suddenly swept him into darkness.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a patch of grass. Towering mountain ranges and lush forests stretched as far as he could see, while the air carried a simple, fragrant freshness.
He abruptly sat up, unease rising within him. "Where am I? Why does it feel like I've entered a fantasy world?"
As he looked around, a strange set of memories suddenly flooded into his mind.
He saw a child dressed in blue, with a furry tail and a goofy grin on his face.
The child's memories merged into his mind...
"Th-This... who is this? Why do I know his story?" His heart began to pound.
"Wait, this kid... is Son Goku!"
He suddenly realized that he had transmigrated into the world of Dragon Ball, into twelve-year-old Son Goku!
His heart instantly erupted with excitement, and he nearly jumped for joy.
"Oh my god! I became Goku! He's the protagonist with limitless potential!" he exclaimed excitedly.
"I can finally experience invincible Power Levels and endless adventures!"
He began moving his limbs, trying to get used to this new body.
He stretched his arms and found that his body was brimming with strength. It even felt far more relaxed than his original body.
"This is awesome!"
He realized that he first needed to adapt to this new body.
"Since I'm Son Goku, I need to train hard and become even stronger!"
Goku walked over to a thick tree. Thinking of the fight scenes he had seen in Dragon Ball, fighting spirit flared in his heart.
Goku performed several warm-up exercises before beginning to imitate the martial arts moves from the original work.
He threw a punch. A fierce gust howled past, and the tree toppled over with a thunderous crash.
"Whoa! That was way too easy!" Goku excitedly clapped his hands.
"So I actually have this kind of strength! This is way easier than PE class at school!"
Excited, Goku did not stop. Instead, he thought of something else: jumping.
Images of soaring through the skies and across the earth in Dragon Ball flashed through his mind. His blood heated up, and he found an open area to test himself.
He drew in a deep breath, lowered his body, gathered strength in his legs, and shot into the air.
In an instant, Goku felt the thrill of breaking free from gravity. Like an arrow loosed from its bow, he rocketed toward the sky as the scenery around him rushed downward.
"Whoa, this is so high!" Goku thought excitedly. He suddenly spun through the air and looked down at the earth. Seeing the mountains and forests below him, joy welled up inside him again.
When he landed, he gave a light push with his feet and touched down steadily.
"Th-This... if I entered the Olympics, wouldn't I break world records whenever I wanted?" Goku muttered to himself, imagining himself raising a gold medal on the podium and secretly savoring the thought.
After adapting to the strength of his fists and feet, his gaze landed on the Power Pole tied to his back, and excitement flickered through his heart.
He slowly untied the Power Pole and chuckled to himself. "Since I inherited Goku's body, I should make good use of his signature treasure too!"
Goku shouted, "Power Pole, extend!"
The moment the words left his mouth, the Golden Cudgel shot toward the sky as though it possessed a will of its own.
Caught off guard, he was carried high into the air. The trees beneath his feet rapidly shrank, while the wind whistled past his ears.
"Oh! This feels so cool!" Goku could not help shouting.
He controlled the Power Pole as it rose and fell, trying to get used to moving in midair, having the time of his life.
The Power Pole extended and retracted with perfect flexibility. One moment Goku soared upward, and the next he plunged downward at high speed, grinning like a child.
In this forest, Goku nearly lost track of time, completely immersed in the joy of adapting to his new body.
He practiced jumping, punching, and rolling. Every now and then, he swept the surrounding area with the Power Pole, feeling his strength erupt. Birds and small animals scattered in alarm at the commotion, but he only laughed excitedly, oblivious to the changes around him.
Throughout the entire day, Goku continuously tried all kinds of moves, discovering the endless possibilities this body offered.
As the sun set, its warm afterglow blanketed the forest. Goku looked up at the orange-stained sky and only then realized it was time to go home.
"My stomach's growling!" He rubbed his belly, made up his mind, put away the Power Pole, and headed home along the familiar path.
On his way home, he spotted several plump fish by a small river. Looking closer, he saw that one of them was enormous—at least two meters long, its scales glinting silver beneath the setting sun.
"Haha! With a big guy like this, I'm having a feast tonight!" Excitement flashed through Goku's eyes. He stripped off his clothes and jumped straight into the river, sending water splashing everywhere.
Sensing the disturbance, the huge fish flicked its tail and swiftly swam away.
Goku reacted instantly. Seeing the fish preparing to escape, he lunged after it.
Though the current created tremendous resistance, he easily caught up to the fish in the water and reached out with a fierce grab!
The fish twisted nimbly, dodging Goku's hand and leaving a trail of bubbles behind. Goku had not expected it to react so quickly. He paused for a moment, then laughed excitedly. "You're pretty capable, huh? I'm taking you down today no matter what!"
Goku narrowed his eyes and watched the fish's movements.
Once he found the right moment, he hesitated no longer and swung his fist at the fish's head!
His fist drove a surge of water before it, smashing heavily into the fish's head. The blow left the fish dizzy and disoriented. It stopped struggling and floated in the water.
"Ha! Finally got it!" Goku proudly grabbed the fish by its tail and dragged it out of the river.
Dragging the giant fish he had just knocked out, Goku excitedly set off for home.
The afterglow of the sunset dyed the mountains and forest red, while his stomach growled furiously. Thinking about the feast he would soon enjoy, he could not help quickening his pace.
"I need to grill this fish soon. I should be able to eat to my heart's content!" Goku thought as he walked. Unable to hold himself back, he began to jog, his speed increasing as the wind whooshed past his ears.
As he ran, he suddenly realized that his speed had already far surpassed his all-out performance at his school's sports meet in his previous life.
Back then, he could never outrun the athletic stars in his class, and he would be left panting for breath after every race.
But now, using only thirty percent of his strength, he sped through the mountains and forests like a gust of wind.
"My speed... this is insane!" Goku thought excitedly. His steps grew lighter and lighter. With a small leap, he could clear fallen tree trunks, and even massive boulders became targets for him to vault over.
Even while dragging a huge fish, he did not feel the slightest burden.
Goku could not help recalling the school sports meets from his previous life. As an ordinary student, he had never been able to take first place. He would be panting after every 400-meter race, and even when he gave it everything he had, his results were only below average. Compared to his current speed, it was like heaven and earth!
"If I'd had this speed back then, wouldn't I have dominated the school sports meet in minutes?" Goku could not help laughing.
He could not stop fantasizing about the sensation he would cause if he transmigrated back and showed off his skills at the school sports meet!
