The roster for the quarterfinals was finally revealed, and the atmosphere immediately grew tense. Mercenary Tao, Tien Shinhan, Chichi, Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, and one mysterious contestant—Aqi. Aqi wore a mask that concealed most of his face, clearly making a deliberate effort to hide his identity.
Goku's gaze fell on Aqi, a thoughtful glint flashing through his eyes. Though Aqi had deliberately concealed his face, Goku had recognized him long ago from that familiar presence and build. Still, Goku knew it was best not to say too much during the tournament. Since the other man had chosen to hide his identity, he would let him keep that air of mystery.
Kami didn't come to this martial arts tournament, Goku muttered silently to himself. Maybe he thinks we can defeat Piccolo.
During the break, Goku, Yamcha, and Krillin went up to the stands, intending to chat with Master Roshi and the others and relax a little. They had barely sat down when Krillin could not help saying, "The first match is Tien Shinhan versus Mercenary Tao."
"Mercenary Tao? Didn't Goku kill him? How could he... he actually came back to life?" Master Roshi froze at the news, his expression instantly turning grave.
"Don't worry. Even though Mercenary Tao came back to life, he's no threat to Tien Shinhan at all." Goku casually waved a hand.
Krillin did not fully understand what Goku meant and looked at him in confusion. "Goku, Mercenary Tao knows all of Tien Shinhan's techniques. No matter what, Tien Shinhan still has to be careful!"
Goku smiled. "Don't worry. Tien Shinhan has become incredibly strong now. No matter how formidable Mercenary Tao is, he can't beat him."
Just as he finished speaking, a familiar figure suddenly approached them. It was Master Crane, his expression stern and his brows
