Barks rose and fell all around. A Tibetan Mastiff whose fur had mutated red opened its mouth and fired a Fireball at Nameless.
The Mutant Dog whose tail could lengthen and shorten shot it out at once, cutting off Nameless's escape to the right. A Poodle thrust out its reproductive organ, blocking his other side.
With nowhere left to dodge, Nameless could only take the Fireball head-on.
If he had superpowers, a mere Fireball would have posed no threat. But right now he had none, so he could only watch it bear down on him.
Yet heaven never sealed off every road. Just then, a Husky attacked Nameless too, opening its mouth to spray a jet of water. The water struck the Fireball squarely.
The Fireball's attack was snuffed out, while the water jet lost its aim in the collision and landed farther away.
Nameless breathed a sigh of relief and hurried on. The dogs behind him all turned to look at the Husky, which barked wildly with excitement, utterly unaware that it had ruined the other dogs' coordinated attack.
It thought hitting the Fireball so precisely had looked incredibly cool, and that the other dogs were gazing at it in admiration. Its spirits soared even higher.
"This way! Over here!"
Nameless kept running, but his stamina was beginning to fail. Compared with those mutated dogs, his physical abilities fell far short.
As he panted for breath, he suddenly heard a voice. Glancing toward it, he saw several middle-school students waving to him.
