Scarlett had no intention of protecting the city. She was waiting for the demonic beasts to leave.
These demonic beasts would surely seek out the true source of the Demon Tide, and that source was what the trial takers had to fight over.
The one who lasted until the end would win.
In truth, that meant that after the Demon Tide began, one had to defeat every demonic beast, Beast Tamer, and trial taker that appeared to obtain the source that had triggered the Demon Tide!
