"Run! There's a murderer here!"
Apophis noticed the human and let out a strange sound.
It knew all too well how powerful its tentacles were. This human would surely be strangled to death, just like the Oceanfolk before him.
"A murderer? Where?"
The human suddenly stopped and looked around. Then he turned toward Apophis and asked.
Apophis froze. The human had understood it—and spotted it?
It spoke timidly. "I'm the murderer. No, wait, my tentacles are the murderers! It has nothing to do with me!"
"..."
Zhang Ping stared at Apophis in the distance, speechless.
He could tell whether other creatures were lying, so he had genuinely believed what Apophis said at first.
Who knew it would take such a turn and come up with an answer like that?
There's something wrong with this Apophis!
Zhang Ping considered the Apophis he had found this time. Its body was exceedingly strange.
Besides the Oceanfolk head still attached to its enormous head, all eight of its tentacles were exceptionally thick, like monstrous giant sea snakes.
Every sucker on those tentacles was lined with spikes.
Once it latched onto a target and drove those spikes into its body, most creatures probably wouldn't be able to break free.
Of course, none of that threatened Zhang Ping. What was truly strange was Apophis's state of mind. It called itself a murderer, yet seemed to be making excuses for itself.
Not normal!
Not normal at all.
After a moment's thought, Zhang Ping asked, "Then are your tentacles part of your body?"
"Well... yes!" Apophis hesitated, then answered honestly.
Zhang Ping continued, "If someone killed a person with his right hand, could he claim it was his hand that did the killing and that cutting it off would settle things?"
"Uh... no." Apophis drew on the knowledge
