In the deep sea...
A Serrated Longfin Fish was searching for suitable prey.
It resembled a megalodon, but it had long, winglike fins and an unusually pointed mouth. If it continued to evolve, perhaps it would grow a birdlike beak someday.
As a Mutated Beast, it had a vast hunting ground. It occasionally encountered other Serrated Longfin Fish, but it rarely had to act. Its own kind would steer clear and quickly flee its territory.
Then it spotted prey unlike anything it had ever seen: a creature with a strange head and limbs that looked like kelp.
It stood out far too much.
Compared with the dark scales of fish, the creature's body was like a lightbulb on the seafloor.
It flicked its tail and launched itself forward like a torpedo.
"Well, look at you. You're dinner tonight!"
Zhang Ping sat on a rock in the deep sea, about to eat something.
Before he could take food out of Dream City, a huge fish came diving toward him. By the look of it, it wanted to slide straight into his stomach.
How could he turn down such an eager offer?
Zhang Ping opened his mouth, and a stream of black energy burst out.
Before the fish could sense the danger, the energy became a giant mouth and swallowed it whole.
"Slurp!"
Zhang Ping drew the black energy back into his body and let out a satisfied sound.
He worked hard to remain more like a person, but as his abilities multiplied and his strength grew, he drifted farther and farther from humanity. Nothing had changed on the surface, yet beneath it, he was no longer quite human.
If he gathered all his abilities back and unleashed them at once, his appearance would change dramatically.
