There was a big catch!
Wu Ka looked beyond the city walls, silently thanking his good luck.
He got up and peered through a hole in the city wall toward the sound. Something was moving amid the thorn bushes in the wasteland, struggling fiercely.
"Gulp."
Wu Ka swallowed, feeling that this animal was somewhat different from the ones he had encountered before.
Normally, animals that fell from high above into the valley would already be thoroughly dead. There was no way they could struggle like this, much less with such strength.
"Could it be some kind of ferocious beast?"
Wu Ka muttered to himself, then carefully climbed onto the city wall to look.
Just then, Wu Ma ran back and climbed onto the wall as well. "Wu Ka, did something fall down?"
"Yeah, over there. But something seems off," Wu Ka replied with a nod, looking puzzled.
The muffled crash had been loud. Wu Ma had not gone far, so it was no surprise he had heard it. Wu Ka figured everyone living nearby had probably heard it too. A big catch like this belonged to whoever saw it; no one could keep it all for themselves.
Sure enough, before long, nearby residents gathered one after another.
Some climbed the wall like Wu Ka to look outside. Others stood on the ground and peered through the holes in the wall. A few bold loafers climbed over the wall and slowly made their way down, too lazy even to go around through the city gate. They intended to see for themselves what it was.
Of course, they remained cautious. Once they reached the ground, they had people throw wooden poles down from the wall. Only after picking them up did they carefully approach the wasteland.
