After hurrying the whole way, the Cleanup Team finally reached the nearest safe house at around five in the afternoon.

This safe house had been built beneath a massive tree at least five hundred years old. Its entrance was hidden in the treetop and could only be opened using a special method.

Under Situ Shibai's guidance, Zhang Ping and the others entered the safe house.

"Good timing. I installed a one-way teleportation array here that can take you to Secret Base 08. Teleport out first," Situ Shibai's voice came from the bracelet.

While Liu Sishan and the others prepared to activate the teleportation array, Zhang Ping asked curiously, "Mr. Situ, just how many safe houses and secret bases have you prepared?"

"I build between ten and twenty safe houses each year. Secret bases require more materials, so I build around two or three per year. At present, there are roughly three thousand safe houses and around two hundred secret bases," Situ Shibai answered with a rather vague estimate.

Zhang Ping clicked his tongue. "That many? Don't tell me you started building them two hundred years ago?"

"More or less. We must leave humanity a few more escape routes," Situ Shibai replied calmly.

Liu Sishan stood above them and said, "The teleportation array is ready. Everyone, get on."

The teleportation array was a square stone platform about a meter high, with numerous grooves for holding materials. Most of those materials came from Mutated Beasts.

Long ago, Situ Shibai had used his ability to grant these materials special vitality. Though they could only be used once, they could be preserved for a long time and would not lose their effectiveness even after his death.

Everyone stepped onto the square stone platform, and Liu Sishan embedded four eyeballs at its very top.

These
