Put simply, his body became a sheet of paper woven from countless lines. By changing those lines, he could change the sheet's shape. If attacked, he could even become a one-dimensional line or a zero-dimensional point.
But once he became a point, attacks would strike him directly. High-density energy attacks or high-frequency physical attacks could still hurt him.
Lin Renmei's all-out assault counted as a high-frequency physical attack. If she kept it up, she would eventually break through his defenses.
Nameless walked into a wall and moved through it like a figure in a painting. He was not truly a two-dimensional being, so his senses still worked normally.

Nameless discovered that without eyes, he could no longer see anything beyond the wall.
He turned himself into a cartoon tree with eyes. Now he could see outside again.
Suddenly, he vanished from where he stood and slipped into the gaps within the wall. To the naked eye, the wall looked solid, but he saw tiny holes everywhere. He could turn into lines and pass straight through them.
