Maria asked curiously, "Lord Nameless, is the Drowning Spring really impossible to kill?"
"Calling it impossible to kill is a bit of an exaggeration. As long as something hasn't achieved Transcendence, I doubt it's truly unkillable." Nameless thought for a moment before answering.
Lucifer added, "But killing the Drowning Spring really is extraordinarily difficult. The conditions required are extremely complicated."
"Why?" Maria asked, puzzled.
Zhang Shouzhong and Cheng Xuejie both looked at Lucifer. Until now, they had believed that if an enemy couldn't be killed, it simply meant their attacks weren't strong enough.
Once someone became powerful enough, they could kill any enemy with a single punch.
But the Demon Spirit from before, and now the Drowning Spring, seemed different. They appeared to require specific methods to deal with them.
"The reasons the Drowning Spring became what it is today are incredibly complicated. It's like a ball of yarn, with every strand representing a different power. They weave together, tangle around one another, restrain one another, yet also sustain one another. The result is that no attack can kill it completely. An attack might even make it stronger.
"This isn't a situation that sheer power can break. That isn't to say sheer power could never solve it, but no one in All Heavens and Myriad Realms has enough sheer power to do so.
"So we can only reverse the process that formed it. We have to untangle it strand by strand, sort that ball of yarn into separate balls of different colors, then destroy them one by one," Lucifer said slowly.
Nameless smiled. "The principle behind that sorting process is simple. If it's water, we use fire. If it's darkness, we use light. The real difficulty lies in combining those elements and countering it with exactly the right balance."
"It
