But Dis consciously wanted to devour that remnant soul, while the remnant soul inside the Lich Body wanted to devour him by instinct.

The Lich Body also held an immense amount of death magic. When it saw Dis, that magic seized control of the entire nest of bones, turning it into a giant skeletal claw that reached swiftly toward him.

On his own, Dis would inevitably have been devoured by the remnant soul inside the Lich Body. After all, he had little offensive power himself. But now he was part of Infinite City.
