To say Aiou had deep feelings for these Wonder Spirits would definitely be bullshit.
Over this past week, aside from the Wonder Spirits he had infected himself, he truly had not invested much emotion in the rest. And because there were simply too many Wonder Spirits, he had been both father and mother to them. Other than exhaustion, he had felt nothing else.
But when he saw the hidden attachment in their eyes, he truly could not bring himself to refuse them.
These Wonder Spirits were all children who had been born only about a week ago, their hearts exceptionally pure. Faced with the anticipation in those pairs of Kaxilan Big Eyes, he wanted to respond, yet clearly knew he had no ability to do so. Otherwise, merely caring for these Wonder Spirits would leave him unable to do anything else all day.
"Don't worry. Their dependence on you isn't particularly strong yet, and they haven't formed a true bond. Once we bring them back to the Association, we'll educate them properly," Fat Dragon said with a cheerful smile, seeing Aiou's hesitation and predicament.
Aiou let out a breath of relief and nodded. "You must treat them well."
"Of course. That is what we do." Fat Dragon nodded.
Aiou did not continue disturbing Fat Dragon's counting work. Mainly, the looks in some of the Wonder Spirits' little eyes made him feel awful. Those pairs of eager, pleading eyes seemed to be asking him whether he no longer wanted them.
Though he was exhausted, there were times when these Wonder Spirits frolicked around him, laughing and playing, and his heart received no small amount of joy as well.
He strolled slowly along the edge of the island, Little Book in hand, and finally let out a faint sigh.
"Daddy can't bear
