A very, very, very long time ago, many powerful beings throughout All Heavens and Myriad Realms had observed the existence of the World Hole. In pursuit of truth, in order to advance further, many of them cast a portion of their souls or True Spirits into the World Hole.
These powerful beings varied greatly in strength, and some hid themselves extremely deeply. They might be a speck of dust in the mortal world, or even a maggot in a toilet.
Of course, some beings did not hide quite so deeply, such as the Calamity Emperor, whom Hawkins had dealt with effortlessly.
It was precisely because Hawkins had acted that time that countless powerful beings who had planted hidden pieces turned from overt to covert. Hawkins knew they still existed, but he did not care.
After all, these so-called powerful beings might themselves have merely been alternate identities of cultivators hiding even deeper. Whether he killed them or not made little difference.
If they could send in one, they could send in two more. Trying to clean them all out would be far too troublesome. Hawkins would likely have to work from dawn until dusk, with very little to show for it.
Everything should originally have come to an end.
But Hawkins discovered that the atmosphere in Infinite City was changing.
It might have been a coincidence. After all, the number of players in Infinite City was constantly increasing. Its atmosphere certainly could not remain as simple and unspoiled as before, nor could every player know every other player.
Once so-called "strangers" existed, Infinite City would naturally divide into many different groups, forming one small circle after another.
This change was very slow, so gradual that it seeped in without a sound.
Yet Hawkins still keenly sensed that something was wrong.
