Dugu Bo left decisively, without the slightest hesitation.
After bringing Dugu Yan here, he immediately left the room. The moment he turned away, he could no longer contain his excitement or suppress the grin tugging at his lips.
"Granddaughter, you won't lose out by staying with His Holiness."
Once outside, Dugu Bo dragged away Yue Guan and Gui Mei, who had been planning to eavesdrop.
He dressed it up as an invitation to a proper drinking session, one that would formally put their old grievances to rest.
"Old Poison, you've certainly worked out a clever little scheme." Gui Mei chuckled sinisterly.
"Fine. We should respect His Holiness's privacy, after all," Yue Guan said.
And so, the three of them left.
As for Bai Ye's safety?
There weren't any hostile Titled Douluos in Heaven Dou City to begin with. Even if there were, they couldn't threaten Bai Ye.
Inside the room, Dugu Yan curiously studied the Spirit Hall Holy Son before her.
Before coming here, Dugu Bo had already told her about Bai Ye and asked her not to hate him over Yu Tianheng's death.
She hadn't agreed at the time. Yu Tianheng had been her lover, after all. How could she not hate Spirit Hall when they had slaughtered him as though his life were no more than a blade of grass?
She had even demanded to know why Dugu Bo wanted to become Spirit Hall's running dog.
Faced with his granddaughter's accusation, Dugu Bo hadn't been angry. He had merely sighed before patiently explaining.
Otherwise, why would he have waited until evening to bring Dugu Yan over?
What a handsome face. That was Dugu Yan's first impression. Although her grandfather had repeatedly urged her not to hold a grudge, she had only been feigning agreement.
Yet now that she saw Bai Ye's face, she couldn't muster even a trace of hatred. She was even beginning to forget Yu Tianheng's existence.
"Take off your clothes."
As Dugu Yan studied Bai Ye, he studied her too. Those extra few years certainly showed; her figure far surpassed Zhu Zhuqing's.
And her face was beautiful too.
"What?" Dugu Yan was stunned. Her grandfather had only said that His Holiness would cure her poison. He hadn't mentioned any requirement to undress.
Although she didn't mind, she still felt this was moving a little too fast.
"Don't overthink it. Otherwise, I can't remove your poison." Bai Ye wore a perfectly serious expression.
Dugu Yan peered suspiciously into his eyes, hoping to find some clue. Unfortunately, the only conclusion she reached was that he wasn't lying.
"Oh." With that, Dugu Yan began briskly removing her outer clothes.
After all, both her parents had died from snake venom. She didn't want to follow in their footsteps.
Soon, only two pieces of underwear remained on Dugu Yan, exposing broad stretches of snow-white skin.
Though this wasn't his first time seeing such a sight, Bai Ye still felt his mouth go dry.
Naturally, removing her clothes wasn't necessary to cure the poison. But he couldn't let Dugu Bo's good intentions go to waste, and he had been thinking along the same lines anyway.
"Can we begin?" A blush spread across Dugu Yan's face. Although this wasn't her first time either, she still felt nervous, and even a little excited.
"Take everything off," Bai Ye said mildly, his tone leaving no room for doubt. "Otherwise, the treatment won't be complete, and there'll be lingering complications."
As he spoke, Bai Ye approached Dugu Yan.
After pretending to hesitate, Dugu Yan removed her remaining clothes.
"Don't move. I'm starting." Bai Ye summoned his martial soul, the Apocalypse Hammer. The instant his five soul rings appeared, Dugu Yan froze.
His first two rings were thousand-year rings, his third and fourth were ten-thousand-year rings, and his fifth was actually a hundred-thousand-year ring!
Her grandfather hadn't told her that Bai Ye's soul rings were this heaven-defying.
Her body even began to tremble slightly. To her, this was nothing short of a miracle!
But Bai Ye didn't merely stand there staring. His third soul ring lit up, and he cast Purification on Dugu Yan.
A ring of light instantly appeared above Dugu Yan's head, then descended from top to bottom, settling beneath her feet and slowly rotating.
With that, the poison was cured.
But Purification's benefits didn't end there. The changes in her body felt so comfortable that Dugu Yan couldn't help crying out.
"Ah~"
"Done." Bai Ye withdrew his martial soul. Before Dugu Yan could speak, he went straight to the bed and lay down.
Dugu Yan stared incredulously at him. Remembering the sound she had just made, her cheeks reddened further.
She hadn't imagined that the snake venom that had troubled her grandfather so deeply would be cured in the blink of an eye.
Indeed, after the purification, she could clearly feel the changes in her body.
Suddenly, something occurred to her, and her face turned even redder.
Undressing wasn't necessary to cure the poison. She couldn't help looking at Bai Ye's face. Naturally, she understood her grandfather's intentions.
And her grandfather was right. She wasn't losing out.
So, with graceful, lotus-light steps, she slowly approached Bai Ye.
"Hm? What are you doing?"
Several days later, Bai Ye and Dugu Yan emerged from the Spirit Sacred Hall, both glowing with vitality, and headed for Blue Lightning Academy.
Their target was one of its students, Tai Long.
Just as Bai Ye had previously considered, he wasn't in a hurry to obtain his Sixth Soul Ring, so he hadn't chosen to go straight to the Strength Clan.
His reason for seeking out Tai Long was simple: beat the young one, then wait for the elders to come.
Soon, Bai Ye and Dugu Yan arrived at Blue Lightning Academy's gates.
The two Blue Lightning students on duty immediately blocked their way.
"Dugu Yan, what are you doing here?"
Dugu Yan was a well-known student of Heaven Dou Imperial Academy, so they naturally recognized her.
But both of them looked at her with obvious surprise.
After being nourished by Purification, Dugu Yan's face and figure were considerably better than before.
Bai Ye, standing beside her, also caught their eyes.
If Oscar and Dai Mubai's looks were tier one, then Bai Ye's were god-tier.
But since Spirit Hall hadn't publicized his appearance, they didn't recognize him as its Holy Son.
In fact, throughout Heaven Dou City, aside from those in the Spirit Sacred Hall, only Xue Ye could recognize him.
"Dugu Yan, where did you find this pretty boy? Yu Tianheng's barely dead, and you already have a new lover?" one student asked mockingly. The two academies were rivals, so he had no intention of treating her politely.
Besides, this was Blue Lightning Academy's territory. What was wrong with throwing his weight around at his own doorstep?
Dugu Yan's expression changed sharply. Over the past few days, she had completely forgotten Yu Tianheng. Now that someone had brought him up, she couldn't help stealing a glance at Bai Ye.
Bai Ye, however, remained utterly calm.
"Brother, be a little more polite." Bai Ye smiled faintly at the two students.
"Polite, my-"
Bang!
Before the final word could leave his mouth, Bai Ye slapped the speaker and sent him flying backward. He flew several dozen meters before hitting the ground, his head lolling sideways, eyes wide and blood trickling from his mouth.
He was clearly dead beyond any doubt.
Even as he died, he couldn't have imagined someone would dare attack him at the academy gates, let alone strike to kill.
Nor could he understand how Bai Ye, who looked to be his age, could kill him with a single blow.
Yet Bai Ye wasn't his age at all.
His cultivation, however, far surpassed the student's.
The student was merely a Soul Grandmaster, while Bai Ye had already reached level sixty. Even without using soul power, a blow delivered through his physical strength alone was beyond a Soul Grandmaster's ability to withstand.
Not to mention that Bai Ye had struck without warning.
"I had no intention of attacking, but your insolence paved your own road to death." Bai Ye stood with his hands behind his back, speaking calmly, as though he had merely crushed an insignificant ant.
"You!" The remaining student's expression changed drastically. Before he could shout that someone had been murdered, Bai Ye knocked him unconscious. This one hadn't paved his own road to death.
Dugu Yan froze at the sight.
Before they came, Bai Ye had said they were here to cause trouble, but he hadn't said anything about killing people.
"Let's go in." Bai Ye glanced back, and only then did Dugu Yan recover. She hurried over and hooked her arm through his.
Unexpectedly, they had barely taken a few steps when they encountered their target.
"Dugu Yan, can this pretty boy satisfy you? Yu Tianheng's dead. Why not get together with me?"
Tai Long suddenly appeared, leering at Dugu Yan.
"Tai Long." Dugu Yan's expression turned icy. Ever since being purified, she only smiled when dealing with Bai Ye or her grandfather.
"So you're Tai Long." Bai Ye smiled faintly. Just what he would expect from the character who had harassed Xiao Wu in the original story. Then he glanced at Dugu Yan and found it understandable.
The current Dugu Yan was considerably prettier than Xiao Wu had been when Blue Lightning Academy was renamed Shrek Academy.
Mainly because her figure was outstanding.
"Who are you?" Tai Long looked at Bai Ye with hostility.
Bai Ye wasted no words. He pulled his arm free of Dugu Yan's embrace and punched Tai Long to the ground.
He had controlled his strength. Otherwise, Tai Long would certainly have died.
Even so, Tai Long was in terrible shape. He spat out blood and lay on the ground, staring at Bai Ye in disbelief.
"Doesn't your clan love calling for backup? I'll give you a chance now. Go fetch your father. I'll wait here."
Looking at Bai Ye's devilish smile, Tai Long felt immense fear. But once he thought of his father and grandfather, his confidence swelled.
"Fine! You said it yourself! Just you wait!" Tai Long glared furiously at Bai Ye, but he couldn't even get up from the ground.
He tried several times, only to fail each time.
Quiet murmurs rose from the surrounding crowd. They grated on Tai Long's ears, and his expression became hideous. Meanwhile, the injuries Bai Ye had inflicted left him in excruciating pain.
Fortunately, someone promptly helped him up and took him to fetch reinforcements.
Dugu Yan sat on the ground, her long, fair legs stretched straight out. Under the crowd's astonished and envious gazes, Bai Ye lay down and closed his eyes to rest.
Before long, Tai Long returned with his father.
"Dad, it's him! He's the one who beat me up like this!" Tai Long stared at Bai Ye with hatred.
"Boy, what's your name?" Tai Nuo asked coldly, his tone hostile. His son was a genius of the Strength Clan. How could he tolerate him being bullied outside?
"My name isn't something a mere Soul King like you is qualified to know." Bai Ye opened his eyes and pushed himself upright with his hands braced against Dugu Yan's body. She stood up after him.
"Oh?" Tai Nuo paused. "Quite the arrogant brat. Since you've put it that way, don't blame me for bullying someone younger."
As his words fell, Tai Nuo activated Martial Soul Possession and revealed his soul rings. But Bai Ye was faster, throwing a punch with nothing but pure physical strength once again.
Seeing Bai Ye act so arrogantly without even revealing his martial soul, Tai Nuo froze again. While he was still debating whether to kill the boy, the fist was already in his face.
It came so fast that he couldn't react.
With a bang, he was defeated in one punch, just like his son.
The entire gathering instantly fell silent. Everyone stared at Bai Ye in disbelief, including Dugu Yan, who knew what he was capable of.
Level sixty.
Even so, he shouldn't have been able to defeat a Soul King with one punch without using his martial soul or soul power.
Clearly, this defied common sense.
"Heh. Otherwise, how would I be a genius among geniuses, a monster among monsters?" Knowing what Dugu Yan was thinking, Bai Ye offered a brief explanation.
Someone like him was destined to be beyond the world's understanding.
Tai Nuo, knocked flat and defeated by a single punch, understood even less. A child about his son's age had actually floored him with one blow?
Although he had been careless and hadn't dodged, this still wasn't strength a child like this should possess.
One punch had left him unable to fight again.
"Who are you?" Tai Nuo looked at Bai Ye, unable to work out his identity.
"I told you, you're not qualified to know. Go fetch your father," Bai Ye said mildly, and the earlier scene played out again.
Bai Ye merely gave Dugu Yan a look, and she sat back down with practiced ease.
"Dad!" Pale-faced, Tai Long ran toward Tai Nuo, shouting as tears streamed down his face. At that moment, his hatred for Bai Ye surged to the heavens. Unfortunately, he lacked the strength and didn't dare lose his temper before his grandfather arrived.
"Don't cry." Tai Nuo was also very pale, but he still reached out to wipe away his son's tears. Then, supported by Tai Long, he headed out to fetch help.
This time, the elder arrived quickly, his voice preceding him.
"Who hurt my son and grandson?!"
The next moment, Tai Tan appeared with his son and grandson.
As the Strength Clan's chief, he fiercely protected his own. He couldn't tolerate someone severely injuring both his son and grandson for no reason.
So he had come here brimming with fury, intent only on killing.
"Was it you, brat?" Without needing either of them to point him out, he immediately spotted Bai Ye lying with his head on Dugu Yan's legs.
He had assumed the person who injured his son and grandson would at least be middle-aged. Instead, it was a child.
His brows furrowed slightly as he turned to look at Tai Nuo and Tai Long behind him. His gaze seemed to say, You two actually let a child beat you this badly?
"Useless!" Tai Tan said coldly. Tai Nuo's and Tai Long's expressions shifted slightly, and bitterness filled their hearts.
"Grandpa, don't let-"
"Shut up!" Tai Tan cut Tai Long off, then turned his cold gaze back to Bai Ye. Meanwhile, he frantically searched his memory for powerful figures of a similar age.
Soon, he found a match, but he simply couldn't believe it.
"What's your name?" Tai Tan asked.
"Bai Ye." Bai Ye opened his eyes, sprang to his feet, and smiled.
Yet those two simple words plunged the entire gathering into silence once more.
No one could believe that the person before them shared the Spirit Hall Holy Son's name. Then, considering his age and strength, they found it even harder to believe.
"Holy crap! He actually has the same name as the Spirit Hall Holy Son."
"Brother, aren't you afraid Spirit Hall will put you on their list?"
"Damn! He actually dares to use that name."
Having thought it through, everyone began talking at once. They felt Bai Ye didn't understand his situation, stealing the Spirit Hall Holy Son's name like this.
Tai Tan, however, didn't think that way. His expression was unusually grave, and he felt that something bad was about to happen.
"The Spirit Hall Holy Son?"
"Who else?"
