"It's him I've decided on, Crookshanks, I want him!"
Ron made his choice with unwavering resolve.
Crookshanks could recognize bad guys, spot disguises, and was also a cat that could catch mice. In his eyes, there was no pet that pleased him more!
"Great!" Mrs. Ethel was also very pleased; finally, there was a little wizard Crookshanks appearance wasn't so unpleasant.
She opened the cat cage, took out the big cat, handed it to Ron, and introduced them to each other:
"Crookshanks, Ron, from now on you're partners! I hope you get along well!"
The large, ginger-colored cat tilted its head, scrutinizing Ron. Its flat face and large cat eyes reflected Ron's red hair and freckled smiling face.
Will this little red-haired wizard be my master from now on?
Ron also looked at the ginger cat in front of him. He felt that Miss Granger was wrong. Crookshanks was not ugly at all!
Thinking this, Ron smiled and reached out to hug Crookshanks, wanting to pull the big ginger cat into his arms.
Crookshanks was very compliant, without struggling, resisting, or even breathing on it, and obediently let Ron hold him in his arms.
Everyone watched this scene with smiles. With Crookshanks, the big cat, they were sure Ron would forget about that damned Peter Pettigrew and the painful experience of sleeping with an ugly wizard for two years.
Ron put down the big cat he was holding, paid Mrs. Ethel Galleon, and prepared to pick up Crookshanks and leave with the others.
But suddenly they noticed that Crookshanks had arched his back, the fur on his back bristled, and he was baring his teeth and claws, looking like a little tiger, glaring angrily at his good brother Harry's godfather, Sirius Black!
His furious expression made it seem as if Sirius Black some kind of hateful monster!
"Crookshanks, what's wrong?!"
Ron was startled by the new pet's overreaction and couldn't help but ask worriedly, squatting down to reach out and comfort Crookshanks.
Sirius Black, who was antagonized by Crookshanks, also showed a hint of embarrassment on his face.
But as a grown wizard, he couldn't possibly make trouble for a cat, so he could only awkwardly say:
"Harry, I'm going out for some fresh air. Just let me know if there's anything you want to buy later!"
Without waiting for Harry's reply, he shook his head slightly and walked out of the shop with a carefree air.
Harry blushed slightly upon hearing this, knowing that his godfather had been driven away by his best friend's cat, but he had no idea what was wrong with Ron's newly bought Crookshanks.
"Ron, Crookshanks, what's going on?"
"Mrs. Ethel, is Crookshanks ill?"
Harry's tone became increasingly aggressive; in his opinion, this rather ugly big cat was acting like it was having a fit, otherwise why would it be targeting his godfather?!
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Ethel couldn't help but show a hint of embarrassment. The cat she had just sold had inexplicably shown hostility, which was bound to cause some misunderstandings.
If she hadn't known Crookshanks so well, she would have almost thought Crookshanks was having some kind of medical relapse!
Even so, Mrs. Ethel carefully examined Crookshanks and tried to calm it down.
Seeing this, Mr. Arthur and Mrs. Molly didn't know what to say, so they quickly went outside the store to apologize to Sirius Black.
Seeing this, both Levi and Hermione seemed thoughtful. The quick-witted Hermione even took the initiative to defend Crookshanks:
"Ron, and Mrs. Ethel, you don't need to worry too much!"
Have you forgotten that Crookshanks has the ability to Foresight disguises, and Sirius is a wizard with Animagus abilities?!
"Crookshanks must have Frisk Sirius's Transfiguration magic to react like that!"
"Crookshanks is very clever. Ron, you can teach him about this later! I'm sure he won't be hostile towards Mr. Black anymore."
"Harry, this is all a misunderstanding! Crookshanks is just a cat!"
"I think that once Sirius Black finds out, given his carefree and easygoing nature, he won't take this misunderstanding to heart!"
Harry and Ron smiled with relief upon hearing this, both agreeing that Hermione was absolutely right.
Moreover, since it involved their godfather and pet, they didn't want to cause a conflict over something so trivial!
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Ethel's expression shifted to one of sudden realization, and she murmured to herself, "So that's how it is. But Mr. Black isn't maintaining his Animagus form either..."
Her voice was very low, almost inaudible unless you listened carefully. Only Levi, who had become Draconic Sorcerer and possessed extraordinary senses, could hear it clearly.
Yes! Sirius Black n't turn into a black dog, so why is Crookshanks showing hostility towards Sirius, who hasn't Transfiguration?
Could it really be as Hermione said, that Crookshanks can sense Sirius's Transfiguration magic?
That cat with Kneazle blood is just too incredible!
Without accessing the Origin Perspective, even he couldn't distinguish the wizard's Animagus form from the Transfiguration magic within the Transfiguration wizard's body, yet this cat managed to do it!
Levi was amazed by Crookshanks's keen perception, but he still felt that something was amiss and kept it in mind.
After Sirius Black left the Magical Menagerie, Crookshanks immediately calmed down with Ron and Mrs. Ethel's reassurances, and obediently let Ron hold him in his arms.
"Actually, thinking about it carefully, Ron Crookshanks is pretty impressive too!"
Ron was, after all, Harry's best friend and confidant. Since there was a reason for it, Harry took the initiative to speak up for Crookshanks:
"If Scabbers the Rat hadn't been discovered, the one found and caught by Crookshanks now would be that damned Peter Pettigrew!"
Upon hearing this, Ron felt a little embarrassed, but his face also became even more excited.
Having gone through this ordeal, he truly understood Crookshanks's ability to Foresight disguises!
With Crookshanks by his side, he felt incredibly safe and no longer worried about disgusting wizards like Peter Pettigrew getting close to him!
"Harry, although this was a misunderstanding, I still want to apologize to Uncle Black Sirius!"
Harry's willingness to speak up for Crookshanks warmed Ron's heart.
He put himself in Sirius Black's shoes and took the initiative to apologize on behalf of Crookshanks.
Upon hearing Ron's words, Harry's face immediately lit up with a smile. He truly was his good brother and best friend, always understanding and taking care of him!
He looked at Ron and found that Ron was looking at him too. The two smiled at each other!
