Faced with the chance to become a Dimension Lord, Thanos did not rush to merge with a black hole.
After weighing his options, he decided against being greedy. He would merge with the black hole in his own Milky Way.
His lifespan was nearly spent, and the Origin Power in the Infinity Source Stones was almost exhausted. He no longer had the strength to choose a black hole on the scale of a Galaxy Group, much less one on the scale of a universe.
The larger the black hole he merged with, the more energy and time it would take.
And he had neither to spare.
With Above All liable to erase this place at any moment, time was especially tight.
Otherwise, he could have spent a few hundred years restoring his Origin Power, absorbed enough energy, then tried to merge directly with this universe's black hole.
But merging with a galaxy's black hole was fine. It would only mean starting from a lower point.
In the future, he could still merge with parts of the Reality Universe to expand his dimension.
When he took out the Space Stone to teleport back to the Milky Way, he found it had shattered.
Only then did he remember what had happened during his battle with the Celestials. He had tried to use the Space Stone to stabilize the Space Rift and stop them from coming through, but the strain of merging with it had shattered the stone.
He shook his head regretfully.
He would have to find someone to restore the Space Stone when he had the chance.
For now, time was too tight. He could only set it aside.
Soon, he entered subspace in his physical body and began making spatial jumps. He also used the Time Stone to accelerate himself.
