After reading the diary, Thanos felt an inexplicable sadness.

A civilization had lost its fixed star, and its development had somehow ended in apocalypse.

Humanity and morality had vanished. Everything came down to survival.

He could not say Base 73 had been wrong.

Without food, its people could only raid other bases or starve.

Nor could he say the other base had been wrong. Its food was limited; it could not possibly feed another base's people.

Food and water were the most basic necessities for human survival.

A person could live without a house, a bed, a phone, or even any entertainment.

After all, spiritual fulfillment could never replace material needs.

Food alone was truly irreplaceable.

Shaking his head, he began examining the other books with his mental power.

They covered science, mathematics, literature, and other subjects, but held little value for him.

After a while, he left the room and checked the others.

Apparently, no one else had kept a diary, or perhaps they had recorded things on computers. Either way, he found no more diaries.

As he searched, he discovered that many of the base's facilities had been deliberately destroyed.

That was probably why the base had fallen.

Once he had finished searching the base, he looked for an underground passage that would lead him to the others.

While Thanos's avatar continued searching the ruins, Exitar returned to the outskirts of the Milky Way Dimension.

Thanos sent out another avatar to meet him.

"Hello."

Exitar looked embarrassed at his greeting.

"Um, I'm sorry. I really didn't know there were Celestials there. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken you."

Thanos shook his head. "It's fine. You didn't do it on purpose."
