Hearing it finally comply, Thanos stopped.
"Did Dormammu leave anything behind when he left?"
The Octopus Monster shook its head in confusion and said pitifully, "That devil left? I didn't know."
Thanos frowned at what it had called Dormammu.

Right. Rumor had it that Dormammu had never fully ruled the Dark Dimension. Apparently, that rumor had some truth to it.
"Are you sure you don't know? If you don't, how did you end up here?"
He did not know much about the Dark Dimension, but the Dark Energy here was denser than elsewhere.
There was no way this Octopus Monster could live here without Dormammu knowing.
So it was either Dormammu's subordinate or had only recently moved here.
Either way, it had some connection to Dormammu.
Sensing the hostility in Thanos's mental power, the Octopus Monster began trembling all over again.
"My lord, I truly didn't know that devil had left. But I could sense something strange happening over there, and a crack opened in the space where I used to live. I had no choice but to come here."
Thanos frowned and asked, puzzled, "Something strange happened over there? Where is 'over there'?"
The Octopus Monster said shakily, "Over there is over there—the place where that devil usually stays."
At that, Thanos smiled.
Half an hour later, he brought the Octopus Monster to a space where the Dark Energy had nearly taken physical form.
