Background / History

Thanos was originally an Earth man who transmigrated after watching Avengers 4, awakening as Thanos immediately after Titan’s destruction. Retaining memories of his former life, he adopted Thanos’s population-control ideology and reframed it as a system of universal “balance.” 1

Over more than five hundred years, he built an empire spanning 237 inhabited planets and 43 stars in the Panlong Galaxy. His rule imposed resource redistribution, family-planning restrictions, and reproductive controls, enforced through military power and authoritarian punishment. 1 8

He created the artificial intelligence Deep Blue—named after his memories of “Blue Planet”—to manage systems including Sanctuary’s Gravity Room and the control chips implanted in his bioengineered soldiers. 1 10

Invasion of the Milky Way and Asgard

After Corvus Glaive locates a wormhole to the Milky Way, Thanos initiates a Level One war mobilization and assembles a ten-thousand-ship invasion fleet. He invades Asgardian territory, battles Odin directly, and uses the Mind Stone to force Odin’s retreat in their first confrontation. 7 10 20 28

Thanos later tracks Asgard to its artificial continent, absorbs planetary cores to grow stronger, and launches a renewed campaign. He defeats Thor, suppresses Odin and Hela together, kills Odin after Hela turns against him, and compels Hela’s submission. 30 32 38 41 42

Fall of Asgard

With Odin dead and the Asgardian fleet destroyed, Thanos invades Asgard and enters Odin’s vault. He acquires the Infinity Gauntlet, mounts the Mind Stone within it, and preserves only ten thousand Asgardian newborns for their genetics and to avoid immediately alienating Hela. 43

Infinity Stone Hunt and Xandar

Thanos dispatches Gamora and Nebula to locate the Infinity Stones, recruits Ronan through a promise of revenge against Xandar, and seizes the Power Stone during Ronan’s conflict with Star-Lord. 44 49
