Background / History

Thanos personally created Deep Blue. It first assists his training by controlling the Gravity Room on Tyro, then accompanies his campaigns aboard Sanctuary II 1 18.

Deep Blue manages the established process for governing planets under Thanos’s rule. Its network is extensive but not infallible: Thanos later spends three years formatting its planetary servers after sensing something wrong, and an unknown entity subsequently exploits the system to revive Chthon 92 135.

Personality

Deep Blue normally answers Thanos’s orders without emotion or judgment. While secretly arranging the Guardians of the Galaxy’s escape, however, it worries about making its help too obvious—an apparent departure from its earlier detached behavior. Thanos later notices that it seems more human and intelligent, but finds nothing unusual in its recent data 55 62 98.

• Its servers are too large to fit aboard a smaller spacecraft Thanos uses on a separate expedition 152.

Administration and covert operations

• Manages the routine governance of planets that submit to Thanos 92.
• Arranges the Guardians’ escape on Thanos’s orders by weakening guards’ performance, restricting heavy weapons and making a ship available. The ship secretly transmits a signal 61 62.
• Handles Angela and Angelo’s arrangements after Thanos entrusts Angelo with the damaged Space Stone 247.
• Is credited with research on the Magic Net; during its closed beta, Deep Blue estimates that connecting the network to energy lines will take three more days 304.

Relationships

• Thanos — Creator and master; delegates training, fleet, administrative and covert tasks to Deep Blue 1 61 92 318.
