Background / History

In a previous life, Lin Tian lived in the world of Hua Jianghu: Bad Guys. He learned the Supreme Sacred Heaven and Earth Technique from Li Keyong and acquired the Five Thunder Heavenly Heart Formula by having Zhang Xuanling’s teachings translated into plain language. Yuan Tiangang later killed him as an “anomaly,” after which he transmigrated to Douluo Continent 13.

Reborn as an orphan in Bamboo Ridge Village, Lin Tian began cultivating both techniques from a young age. He recorded illustrated versions in pinyin and sewed them into his clothing, ensuring that he would not forget the methods or suffer a cultivation deviation 13. His training gave him Innate Full Soul Power and two mutated martial souls: Heavenly Thunder Bamboo and Buddha’s Wrath Fire Lotus 13.

Before enrolling at Nording Academy, Lin Tian was already regarded as unusual for secretly training in the mountains, hunting successfully, and refusing Spirit Hall’s recruitment offer despite his exceptional innate talent 1.

He accepted Lin Yuan’s supplies because of his poverty, yet declined to abandon his Dorm Seven companions for a private dormitory 8.

He was ambitious and calculating beneath this friendly exterior. He deliberately befriended Tang San, rejected Yu Xiaogang’s offer of apprenticeship, and pursued a place alongside Tang San’s future rise to godhood 12 13. His affection for Xiao Wu was genuine, but it conflicted with his instinct for survival once he suspected Tang Hao’s identity and motives 12 13.

Nording Academy

At Nording Academy, Lin Tian became a central figure in Dorm Seven. He repeatedly defeated Xiao Wu in sparring, earned Tang San’s reluctant respect, and established himself as the strongest student among their immediate group 7 12. His Hundred-Year Soul Ring and Lotus Flying Blades decisively defeated Xiao Chenyu, further solidifying his position 9 10.

Lin Tian’s interest in Xiao Wu became increasingly apparent. He gave her his bedding and slept beside Tang San instead, while Xiao Wu grew closer to him and chose to accompany him back to Bamboo Ridge during the holiday 8 12.

Sworn Siblings and Bamboo Ridge

Fearing that Tang Hao might target him for being close to Xiao Wu, Lin Tian proposed that he, Tang San, and Xiao Wu become sworn siblings in public. Tang San became the eldest brother, Lin Tian the second brother, and Xiao Wu the youngest sister 14.

The oath did not protect him. Tang Hao viewed Lin Tian as both a rival for Xiao Wu’s loyalty and a future threat because of his Twin Martial Souls. When confronted at Bamboo Ridge, Lin Tian attempted to save himself by invoking Tang San, offering to leave Xiao Wu, and even offering to serve Tang San as his master. Tang Hao killed him with the Clear Sky Hammer and threw him from a cliff 14 15.

Death and Legacy

Bamboo Ridge’s villagers accepted Lin Tian’s death as an accident, but Tang San’s examination of the corpse revealed shattered bones and ruptured organs inconsistent with a fall 16 17. Lin Yuan publicly mourned him while secretly searching the body and taking the pinyin manuals hidden in his bloodstained clothing 16.

Lin Tian’s death deeply affected Xiao Wu, while Tang San privately felt relief that a stronger rival for Xiao Wu’s affection was gone 16. Years later, Xiao Wu recognized techniques used by Lin Yuan as skills she had previously seen Lin Tian perform, further tying Lin Tian’s legacy to Lin Yuan’s rise 73.
