Background
Tang San enters Nording Academy as a poorly dressed, malnourished work-study student from Holy Soul Village, accompanied by village chief Old Jack. When the gatekeeper insults his Blue Silver Grass, Tang San nearly kills him with a Silent Sleeve Arrow before Yu Xiaogang intervenes. 4
Yu Xiaogang recognizes Tang San’s potential and guesses that he possesses Twin Martial Souls. When Yan Beifei exposes this secret, Tang San immediately judges him worthy of death according to the principles of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and silently permits Yu Xiaogang to kill him. Tang San then accepts Yu Xiaogang as his teacher, valuing his cultivation knowledge over his personal combat strength. 4 5 6
At the academy, Tang San becomes acquainted with Lin Tian and Xiao Wu. Lin Tian consistently outmatches him in sparring, even when Tang San cooperates with Xiao Wu or uses hidden weapons, leaving a persistent but unspoken tension between them. 12 Tang San later becomes sworn siblings with Lin Tian and Xiao Wu as the eldest brother, with Lin Tian as second brother and Xiao Wu as younger sister. 14
After Lin Tian’s apparent death, Tang San examines the body with the Mysterious Heaven Skill and determines that shattered bones and ruptured organs could not have been caused by a fall alone. Though he publicly mourns Lin Tian, he privately feels relief that a powerful rival and competitor for Xiao Wu is gone. 16 17
Appearance
Tang San initially appears thin, gaunt, and severely malnourished, wearing patched clothing that contrasts sharply with Old Jack’s neat appearance. 4 By the time he reaches Suotuo City, he is around 1.7 meters tall. 45
- Has an ordinary, unremarkable face. 4 45
- Carries the distinctive Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night Soul Tool at his waist. 45
- At Shrek, is recognized by his Blue Silver Grass and yellow-yellow Soul Ring configuration. 47
Personality
Tang San is guarded, calculating, and highly protective of the secrets surrounding his Twin Martial Souls. Yan Beifei’s knowledge of that secret immediately provokes murderous intent, and Tang San refuses to help him even as Yan begs for his life. 4 5
He is pragmatic about cultivation. Although he recognizes Yu Xiaogang’s limitations and manipulations, he accepts him as a teacher because knowledge can be inherited, while raw strength cannot. 6
Tang San also craves familial connection after a childhood marked by emotional neglect. This need contributes to his ready acceptance of Lin Tian and Xiao Wu as sworn siblings. 14 However, his attachment to Xiao Wu develops into jealousy and insecurity: he fears Lin Yuan’s return as a potential rival, is devastated by more talented peers surpassing him, and becomes emotionally unstable after Xiao Wu is taken by the Titan Giant Ape. 45 51 64

Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. His father orders him never to reveal his Twin Martial Souls, making the secret central to his early distrust of Yan Beifei. 4
- Blue Silver Grass — His primary martial soul and control-system foundation. 1 47
- Clear Sky Hammer — His hidden second martial soul; he uses it to strike the injured Lightning Falcon before finishing it with a hidden weapon. 67
- Keeps the Clear Sky Hammer concealed because exposure of his Twin Martial Souls is considered dangerous. 4
Blue Silver Grass Soul Skills
- Blue Silver Entanglement — A binding skill whose power is considered inferior to Lin Tian’s lotus-based soul skill. 12
- Possesses two yellow Soul Rings by the Shrek entrance assessment. 47
