"It actually worked!"
Inside the Pokémon Space, Mu Yun sensed the Space Anchor he had just left in the hotel and felt a surge of delight.
That meant he could afford to be a little bolder tonight!
"Patrick, get ready. First, we'll deal with that little rat!"
"Got it, Big Bro!"
"Xiao Du, I'm leaving you to guard the place!"
"Hiss!"
Mu Yun put on his featureless black-and-white mask again. His skin rippled as though something were rolling beneath it, and his lean, defined muscles soon swelled into a hulking mass.
Once everything was ready, Mu Yun tucked the shrunken Patrick into an inner pocket of his clothes. Then he vanished from the hotel.
Inside Xu Hui's villa.
"Too slow! A whole day, and you still haven't found an opening? You two are useless!"
Alone in the villa, Xu Hui couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The unease had even twisted his expression.
There's nothing wrong with my plan. The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind it. Once that Champion-Level Beldum is mine, my future will surely...
His muttering stopped abruptly.
His eyes flew wide as he rose off the floor. It felt as though he had been plunged into the depths of the sea. He struggled to breathe, his face flushing red.
"So you had another Elite Four Level Pokémon. You hid it well!"
A hulking man wearing a featureless black-and-white mask stepped out of the shadows.
His voice was hoarse, and he held an unconscious Hypno by his side.
As far as anyone knew, Xu Hui had only one Elite Four Level Magnezone. Secretly, though, he also had an Elite Four Level Psychic-type Pokémon—Hypno—and a Ghost-type Pokémon, Banette.
He had prepared well.
"You..."
A garbled sound squeezed out of Xu Hui's throat.
