High in the sky
Xiao Han shot straight into the heavens, breaking through the clouds in the blink of an eye.
New York's outline rapidly shrank behind him. The city lights became tiny specks before finally being swallowed by the deep-blue night.
He continued climbing higher, and the air grew thinner and thinner.
His Biofield adjusted automatically, leaving him completely unaffected.
His skin could feel the faint touch of cosmic rays, but to his Steel Body, they were nothing more than a breeze brushing his face.
"Still not fast enough."
He adjusted his posture, pressing both arms tightly to his sides as the Biofield formed a streamlined barrier around his body.
"Accelerate."
Boom!
His speed surged, breaking past Mach 100, Mach 130, and continuing all the way to the edge of the atmosphere.
Earth's curve came clearly into view, its blue oceans and white clouds intertwined in a beauty that took his breath away.
The final thin layer of atmosphere tore apart, and Xiao Han officially entered space.
Within the boundless darkness, Xiao Han was like a meteor flying against its course, speeding toward the sun.
Without air resistance, he grew faster and faster—0.1 times the speed of light, 0.2 times the speed of light...
After absorbing energy within the sun last time, his maximum speed had already reached 0.5c.
"At this speed, I'll reach the sun in just over ten minutes."
He relaxed his body and let inertia carry him onward.
His Super Senses picked up the faint fluctuations of the universe.
In the distance, astronauts aboard the International Space Station were observing Earth through their windows.
In farther orbit, several satellites silently continued their rotations.
On the other side of Earth, an invisible alien reconnaissance ship lurked quietly.
Super-Sight instantly locked onto the target: a strangely shaped scout ship hidden overhead. Its surface was covered in some sort of optical camouflage, but it was utterly useless against Xiao Han's X-Ray Vision.
"Not Earth technology... and not Asgardian in style either."
The ship seemed to sense the threat and suddenly ignited its engines, trying to flee. Xiao Han hovered in space, a glint of gold flashing through his eyes.
"Since you came, don't leave."
His eyes suddenly lit up, and two scarlet beams of Heat Vision tore through the night sky.
There was no earth-shattering explosion, no wreckage scattering in every direction. The Heat Vision precisely pierced the engine core, and the ship silently came apart like a punctured balloon.
Several fragments brushed across his cheeks, vaporizing the instant they touched his skin.
"Looks like someone is very interested in Earth." Xiao Han memorized the coordinates.
After destroying the scattered wreckage, Xiao Han accelerated once more.
The pitch-black universe unfolded before him.
Here, he felt true freedom.
No gravitational restraints, no air resistance—only eternal starlight.
The sun's radiance gently enveloped him like a mother's embrace.
Warm, comfortable, and filled with power.
"This is what home feels like!"
He relaxed completely, allowing the sun's gravity to pull him in.
Golden energy flowed through his veins, and every cell rejoiced.
As the distance closed, brilliant plasma flames danced before him within the corona.
Xiao Han spread his arms and threw himself into the sun's embrace like a traveler returning home.
The blazing flames kissed his skin. Rather than burning him, they brought an unprecedented sense of fullness.
He took a deep breath. Although there was no air in space, solar radiation was the finest nourishment.
He adjusted his posture and began to slow down.
Golden plasma churned like ocean waves, and the occasional Solar Flare released enough energy to destroy a planet.
But to Xiao Han, it was the purest source of power.
"Now..."
Xiao Han sat cross-legged within the roiling corona, golden energy circulating around him.
Flames wrapped around him as energy surged into every cell like a tide.
"It's time to start experimenting."
"If my power comes from the sun, can magic also use solar energy as its medium?"
This question had circled in his mind for a long time.
At Kamar-Taj, The Ancient One had once said, "The essence of magic is the flow of energy. The medium is merely a tool for guidance."
Then, since his body itself was an energy container, could he directly use himself as the medium for casting spells?
He wanted to understand the essence of magic.
Xiao Han closed his eyes and recalled the knowledge he had learned at Kamar-Taj.
Ordinary sorcerers needed to rely on Sling Rings or magical artifacts, borrowing energy from other dimensions before guiding it through incantations and gestures.
Part of The Ancient One's energy came from the Dark Dimension, but her strength came more from her understanding of the rules.
His own energy, meanwhile, came from the sun. It had been completely internalized within his body, and he had no need to borrow it.
"If I can directly use my own energy in place of dimensional energy, then magic won't need an external medium anymore."
"Maybe I should try making a contract with myself?"
Xiao Han raised his hand, and a faint golden glow appeared at his fingertips. He quietly recited Kamar-Taj's contract incantation:
"By my will, I connect to the flow of the Multiverse."
In an instant, he felt the solar energy within him tremble faintly, as though some invisible rule were drawing it in.
But the energy quickly returned to calm.
The contract had formed, but there was no channel through which the energy could flow.
He realized that Kamar-Taj's magical system was built upon borrowing power, while his energy belonged entirely to himself and required no contract.
"Maybe I don't need to follow their rules."
"My rules are the rules?"
Xiao Han decided to stop imitating Kamar-Taj's methods and instead try guiding energy in his own way.
For his first attempt, he imagined energy flowing from his fingertips and forming sparks.
The result was only a few scattered points of light that quickly faded away.
For his second attempt, he adjusted the way the energy was released, making it envelop his palm like his Biofield.
This time, the sparks lasted longer, but they still failed to take shape.
For his third attempt, he stopped deliberately controlling the energy's form and instead let it flow naturally, like breathing.
"Perhaps magic doesn't need to be forced into shape. Perhaps it should follow the nature of energy."
Xiao Han relaxed his mind and stopped obsessing over the proper casting method.
He closed his eyes and imagined himself merging with the sun's energy.
"I don't need to borrow any power. I am power itself."
He slowly raised his hand. He drew no circle and spoke no incantation, merely allowing energy to flow naturally at his will.
Hum!
A golden spark burst forth before him, then rapidly expanded into a complete portal!
On the other side, Earth's clouds were clearly visible.
"Success!"
Xiao Han could feel that each use of magic consumed only a tiny amount of energy, while solar radiation continuously replenished him.
"As long as I don't leave the range of solar radiation or drain all the energy stored in my body at once, I can cast spells infinitely."
This meant he could teleport without limit. He no longer needed a Sling Ring and could open portals with a casual gesture.
His spells would also be more powerful. After all, solar energy was purer than ordinary dimensional energy, so its magical effects might be stronger.
He could also create a unique magical system, developing Solar Magic that belonged only to him.
Xiao Han floated amid the sun's flames, his eyes shining with thought.
"This ability still has enormous room for development."
For example, energy compression—condensing solar energy to an extreme degree and creating attacks like magical shells or weapons.
He could also interfere with dimensions, using his own energy to stabilize or disrupt passages to other dimensions.
Or... merge magic with superpowers.
For example, combining Heat Vision with magic to create attacks that burned souls.
Could he trap enemies using the Mirror Dimension?
Or use spatial magic and Super Speed to achieve interstellar teleportation?
Xiao Han suppressed his excitement. Magic and superpowers complemented one another, and with his physical abilities, few people could force him to use particularly advanced magic.
He looked toward Earth and curled his lips into a faint smile.
"It's still early. Before I go back, why not try a more complicated spell?"
No sooner said than done, he raised his hand. Golden energy gathered in his palm, and this time, he tried to create a spatial gate leading to another dimension.
For example, he could open a gate to the Hell Dimension and see what Hell looked like.
Or see whether Dormammu really wanted to negotiate?
Whatever the case, Xiao Han wanted to try. Like a child seeing a smartphone for the first time, he wanted to tap everything.
