Tony Stark began to doubt the brain he had always been so proud of, a brain enhanced by the Extremis Virus.
He could not analyze him. He could not see through him.
Fear still coiled around his heart like an icy venomous snake.
But stronger than fear was the humiliation of being completely ignored.
He struggled, as if waiting for something.

The pure-white Symbiote Armor flowed like liquid. With its support, Tony slowly rose from the floor.
He did not immediately look at the unfathomable man. Instead, he turned his gaze toward the red-haired woman he knew.
"Wanda."
Tony's voice was hoarse, but he forcibly restored that balance between arrogance and composure.
"Darling, I have to say, this new way of making an entrance is certainly distinctive."
He adjusted his collar as though he had not just been choked.
"I thought we still had at least a little of our old friendship left. Being this rough really doesn't suit your style."
He tried to use their past to establish a basis for conversation and probe her intentions.
In his eyes, Wanda might have been the only opening among all the invaders.
Yet Wanda merely gave him a cold glance, as if looking at a stranger.
There was no anger in her eyes, no mockery—only distance and indifference.
That reaction choked off all the carefully prepared words Tony had planned to say next.
His heart sank.
Something was wrong.
This Wanda was not right.
Could this Wanda have lost her memory?
