Tony was initially observed at Stark Tower developing a next-generation reactor when Xiao Han remotely analyzed the Arc Reactor’s plasma flow and energy-conversion matrix. Xiao identified palladium as only a temporary solution and devised a superior reactor structure from afar. 3

At the Stark Industries Expo, Tony encountered Xiao directly after Xiao criticized Stark’s reactor design and presented a miniature thorium reactor with 2.7 times Stark’s energy density, a 400% longer half-life, and reduced radiation.
