The harbor looked much as it always did, with all manner of sailing ships moored at its docks and not a trace of war in the air. It was as though the Loen Kingdom had yet to receive word of the war and knew nothing of how the Feysac people would use some item to cross the ocean and appear directly in these waters within the next day or two.
In truth, however, that was not the case.
Over the past few days, both the sailing ships moored in the harbor and the passengers coming and going had been part of a disguise.
Those ships could raise the flags of the Loen Navy at any moment. All they had to do was roll out their cannons, and they would become warships.
The passengers were naval soldiers in disguise. The only thing missing was their uniforms.
After receiving intelligence through various channels about the Feysac people's planned surprise attack on Pritz Harbor, the Loen Kingdom had swiftly mobilized. Its overall strategy, however, was to appear lax while maintaining tight defenses beneath the surface, creating an illusion of complacency to give the Feysac people a surprise.
Aboard one sailing ship, a naval colonel disguised as its captain stood at the captain's cabin window, covertly watching the distant sea.
Beside him, his deputy asked quietly, "Sir, if the Feysac people really do appear, will our forces be enough? We don't even have a demigod."
The naval colonel smiled. "That's part of the disguise."
His deputy was visibly taken aback. "A disguise? You mean not having a demigod stationed here is part of it too?"
