The atmosphere in the study was rather tense.
Sifa looked at Bison, his gaze gradually shifting from suppressed anger to calm, then taking on a trace of coldness. Finally, he replied in a low voice, "I understand."
Bison met Sifa's gaze without yielding in the slightest, like a lion defending his authority.
Just as the atmosphere in the room was about to reach freezing point, a knock sounded. Then someone pushed the door open, and Enilu's voice came from outside. "Am I interrupting?"
Without turning around, Sifa kept his eyes on Bison. "No, Mom."
He continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll return to my room."
Only then did Bison grunt in acknowledgment.
Sifa took a few steps back before withdrawing his gaze. As he turned, he gave his mother a gentle smile, then left.
After closing the door, Enilu turned back and saw her husband rubbing his temples. She chuckled. "Did you two argue?"
"Not quite."
"That boy just doesn't quite understand his place. I gave him a reminder." Bison lowered his hand and looked at his wife. "I feel like I'm losing control of him."
Enilu said gently, "Darling, he can't remain a child forever. He's grown up. He fights pirates at sea, and he's already a major."
But Bison shook his head. "I have to find a way to tighten my control over him."
Enilu frowned slightly. "He's your child."
Bison raised his head and looked quietly at his wife, correcting her without expression. "My adopted son!"
Back in his room, Sifa closed the door and saw Grigor huddled silently in his birdcage, staring blankly at the chandelier overhead.
Sifa looked up and saw a mass of thick black liquid churning behind the lampshade, with a pair of amber eyes occasionally surfacing within it.
"Kardashian, don't scare him."
