Sifa let out a soft breath. "If that's all, I can live with it."
Before he had finished speaking, thunder boomed overhead. Silver light blazed, and a bolt of lightning struck not far in front of him, sending shattered stones flying and air currents surging.
Sifa looked over. The strike had blasted a shallow crater into the ground, its center scorched black and glassy. The sight made his heart pound.
He raised his head and watched the dark clouds slowly disperse. Could this be another negative effect?
The thought had barely formed when his vision suddenly blurred. He vaguely glimpsed a sea lashed by howling winds, heard rumbling thunder, and saw dazzling flashes of lightning...
Within this strange scene, he dimly made out a blurred silhouette that let out an earth-shaking roar, its voice filled with indescribable fury.
The images and sounds vanished in an instant. When Sifa came to his senses, he found himself sitting on the ground. Tufts of dark red hair had sprouted on the backs of his hands at some point. They were slowly retracting, subsiding, and disappearing.
"Just now..."
"Was that another negative effect?"
"This is such a rip-off. There are at least three negative effects. Aside from making me hotheaded, irritable, and prone to acting on impulse, it also turns me into a human lightning rod. I could put up with that, but the last negative effect is terrifying."
"What was that? A god? Did I just look directly at the Lord of Storms?"
Sifa shook his head. "No, no. If that had been the God of Storms, I'd already have been burned
