A wash of blue light appeared, and two figures stepped out of it. Sifa surveyed his surroundings, twirling the Cane of Resentment with a smile. "Time to play scout. I hope Black Sails gives me some extra compensation. This is overtime, after all."
As he spoke, he lightly tapped his shoulder. "Ms. Kardashian?"
The clothes on Sifa's back immediately writhed, separating into a pool of thick black liquid. It spread onto the ground like a carpet, then formed into a woman with long, straight black hair, amber eyes, and strikingly exotic features.
"Could you find a few nature spirits or dead souls to scout ahead for us? I don't want to be discovered on our way to the rebel headquarters, even if the chances should be very low."
As a projection, Kardashian gave no reply. Like a machine, she faithfully carried out Sifa's orders. She raised her head, her lips moving slightly as though she were saying something, but Sifa heard nothing.
Before long, Sifa felt an unnatural chill. He activated Spirit Vision and saw the soul of a wild wolf, two finger-sized forest goblins wearing flowers on their heads, and several souls of local natives gathering from all directions.
The wolf and forest goblins were nature spirits, while the native souls were dead souls. Compared to the nature spirits, the dead souls looked rather more gruesome and frightening. These natives had probably been rebels. Their souls were missing either hands or legs, and one had been burned beyond recognition.
At Kardashian's command, the souls dispersed, serving as Sifa's sentries as they roamed the jungle. If there was any danger, they would be the first to discover it.
