The two sides were Feysac's Conquest Fleet and the Loen Kingdom's Intersea Fleet.
The Feysac Conquest Fleet had come prepared, and with a War Bishop participating, it was a formidable force.
The kingdom's Intersea Fleet also had a demigod overseeing it, though without a War Bishop, it could not bring its military advantages fully to bear.
However, Loen's demigod could issue various Prohibition Edicts. A single Mystical Weakening edict left the opposing War Bishop unable to exercise his power.
Thus, the two fleets were locked in a fierce struggle, with neither able to gain the upper hand for the time being.
Sifa's Royal Third Fleet arrived at precisely this moment.
After obtaining intelligence from Black Sails and securing approval from the Ministry of Defense, he had brought his own fleet to the Intersea to join this naval battle.
Several factors had brought this situation about.
First, many heavy industrial cities, including Conston, lay along the eastern coast of the Intersea. If this area fell, it would deal a tremendous blow to Loen's national strength and severely hamper its subsequent war efforts.
Second, the three major ironclad fleets were returning, but to prevent ambushes, the Ministry of Defense had instructed them not to rush and to take circuitous routes. They could not support the Intersea anytime soon.
Finally, of the two detachments of Feysac's Gonia Sea Fleet threatening Pritz Harbor, one had been defeated by the Royal Third Fleet, with even its commander captured; the other had suddenly withdrawn, its destination unknown.
With Feysac's airship formation having withdrawn as well, the kingdom's capital was safe for the moment.
