Odys received the news and made a few preparations before meeting Klein in Backlund's West Borough.

As soon as they met, Odys asked, "How is the Red Angel doing now?"

"I feel like he's recovered some of his abilities. He seems close to an Angel," Klein said frankly. "His abilities tied to the Red Priest's authority even carry a certain symbolic significance."

Odys smiled. "Then that makes things easier. The two of us can still get away."

Klein said nothing, tacitly agreeing.

He had still been capable of escaping earlier, but because he hadn't sensed any overwhelming danger, he hadn't revealed those trump cards.

A few minutes later, at the agreed time, Klein led Odys to the house where the Red Angel's evil spirit had been.

Odys studied it for a while before saying, "Am I imagining things? I can't sense any danger at all."

"A good Hunter knows how to conceal his presence while hunting," Klein replied.

"There's nothing wrong with how you put that," Odys said with a smile, "but I'm not keen on being the prey."

Klein gave his fellow countryman a helpless look. "Don't put yourself in that role."

Both men were fairly relaxed. Klein believed the Lord of Mysteries would surely be watching, while Odys felt certain Medici would be interested in what he had to offer.

They used no Beyonder Abilities and took the stairs to the second floor.

This was their final check. A brief observation might not alert their Spirituality to danger, but as they drew closer, it would surely give them some warning.

Before they could knock, the door opened on its own.

Odys entered first, but there was no one in the spacious living room.

After Klein stepped inside, the door shut by itself.

"You're punctual." The Red Angel evil
