After the Tarot Club meeting ended, Odys returned to the Real World to rest, then summoned Maxie, the current head of the Trunsoest Family.
Most members of the Trunsoest Family currently held positions in Lenburg. But they had pledged allegiance to Odys rather late, and even then, their sincerity had been questionable.
As a result, members of the Trunsoest Family were not entrusted with as much responsibility as members of the Stiano Family.
Maxie was an elderly man whose hair and beard were beginning to turn gray. When he arrived at Odys's office, he greeted him politely.

Odys invited him to sit with a smile. After a few pleasantries, he came straight to the point. "During a recent operation, I encountered a fragment of the Night Emperor's consciousness. He asked me to help resurrect him—"
Maxie was visibly shocked.
Odys continued, "He told me the Trunsoest Family holds something crucial to his resurrection, as well as an Iron Book that records how to bring him back."

Odys felt it was better to speak plainly. Beating around the bush would only make it seem as though he were probing the Night Emperor's current condition.
Maxie hesitated for two or three seconds before letting out a breath. "We do have an Iron Book.
"Notes left from the Fourth Epoch make it clear that it's quite important, but no one has ever managed to open it."
By admitting the book existed, he was also admitting that the means the Night Emperor had left for his resurrection were indeed in their hands.
Odys nodded. "Go back and discuss it. See whether you need my help."
