Abner sat in a private room on the second floor of a café. He watched the hurried pedestrians through the window and took a sip of coffee.
A few minutes later, the door opened, and a man over seven and a half feet tall, with striking fiery-red hair, walked in.
Abner looked him over and smiled. "You're in good spirits. It seems the Einhorn Family's Grade 0 Sealed Artifact worked well."
Earlier, Nashali, a student of Lady Xenia of Greed, had been chosen by the king to undergo a trial. The aim was for her to become the Sealed Artifact's temporary "master" and treat the mental troubles of this ancestor of the Einhorn Family.
"You know quite a lot!" Einhorn, formerly one of the three Evil Spirits, shot Abner a sidelong glance. She did not pursue the subject and asked bluntly, "What did you call me here for?"
"I need a material in the Einhorn Family's treasury called the Eye Behind the Shadow Veil. I'd like you to redeem it for me." Abner paused, then added, "That will settle the favor you owe me."
"The Eye Behind the Shadow Veil..." The tall, red-haired man across from him frowned. "Not that one. Someone has already selected it. I'm afraid it'll be redeemed soon."
What a coincidence... Abner could not help asking, "Who?"
"I can't tell you that. All I can say is, I'm sorry. There's truly nothing I can do about this item." Einhorn's Evil Spirit shook her head.
