Seeing Abner walk into the attic and expose his identity, the mayor took the heavy glasses off his nose and said coldly, "If you've guessed I'm an apostle of a god, how dare you come here?"

He chose not to attack. The power of Decay had not yet reached its peak, so he could not draw his god's gaze here. Faced with the Professor's Assistant, whose abilities he could not gauge, the mayor decided to play it safe.

Once the god's power descended upon him, nothing in this town would be able to defy him anyway.

Alex, who had just "killed" Summer with his long blade, looked even more confused. He glanced between them and asked, "What's going on? Weren't we working together to solve this town's problem and find a way out?"

The mayor's brow twitched. He looked around as though he could see through the walls and had noticed what the Demonesses were doing. Instead of growing alarmed, he relaxed. Believing he had seen through their plan, he smiled.

"Oh? So you never believed me, Mr. Assistant. Where did I give myself away?"
