Since Abner had spotted the problem, he was not about to keep quiet just to watch Mr. Gaston make a fool of himself. After weighing his words, he described the results of his Analysis.
Mr. Gaston was already used to Abner somehow "knowing" things. Besides, after the Night of Demonic Chaos in Damir, he had seen Abner extract a Devil's aura from a monster. This would hardly seem out of place...
Sure enough, Mr. Gaston did not press him on how he "knew." After thinking it over, he asked, "Could you extract some of that aura? I'd like to appraise it and see how we might put it to good use."
Abner thought for a moment. It did not seem difficult, so he readily agreed.
For other Keepers of Knowledge or Polymaths, extracting the aura of a higher-level being was actually quite difficult. There were two main obstacles:
First, they could not extract an aura they could not detect. Such an aura carried a great deal of mystery. Unless its owner deliberately revealed it, an ordinary Keeper of Knowledge would never notice it.
Second, a higher-level aura often carried a degree of corruption. Once a mid- or low-sequence Beyonder came into contact with it, getting rid of it was troublesome. They would need to attend a "Mass" at one of the Churches of the True Gods—an actual ritual presided over by a bishop, not the sort ordinary people attended.
But neither obstacle posed a problem for Abner. The Pure White Eye was of a sufficiently high level to detect what was hidden and suppress corruption.
Moreover, the Demon's aura within the Wind-blessed characteristic was only an aura. It held no Divinity, and its source could not descend from afar. It was not dangerous. Abner easily used Aura Extraction to draw
