After reflecting on it, Abner decided to stick to his original plan. He would no longer expect the gods to show mercy. Even Lilith, who valued him most, had politely declined. The other gods might see through George III's scheme, but they were unlikely to care much.
His plan was simple: stay in East Borough, wait for the Demoness of Despair to appear, then stop her from spreading a mystical Plague.
He could not halt the march of the times, but he could lessen the damage caused by human hands!
Why stay in East Borough the whole time? Because all the changes caused by the Butterfly effect meant he could no longer be sure Panatiya would act on December 28 as she had in the original story. She might strike a few days early or a few days late.
All he could do was lie in wait.
With his mind made up, Abner thought for a moment, then asked Lilith, "I'd like to ask you for one more favor..."
"What is it?" Lilith asked with a smile.
"I'd like you to arrange a false identity for me... While I'm lying low in East Borough, I want to try Acting as a Mysticism Mentor." Abner did not specify what sort of identity he needed. He trusted that, given the Church of the Earth Mother's influence in Loen, it would not be too difficult.
After all, in the original story, even a secret organization like Element Dawn had managed to get Klein a false identity.
Lilith gave him an amused sidelong glance and shook her head. "You can pray to the God of Knowledge and Wisdom directly... Learning, imitating, and making counterfeits are his specialties."
*If I prayed to the God of Knowledge and Wisdom for that reason, would he smite me?
