Above the Gray Fog, Klein sat in the Fool's seat. After testing the two Beyonder items The Tower had sacrificed, he couldn't help grumbling:
"Did naming myself Gehrman doom me to end up with a Funeral Blade?
"Still, what this weapon can do in its scythe form is terrifying. One touch means death... But five minutes of use in total? That's far too short. It reminds me of online games that gave you five minutes of doubled combat power, then made you pay to keep it once the free trial ran out...
"Is The Tower pulling the same trick? Is he forcing me to finish fights fast and save its ultimate move for the crucial second?"
Of course, grumbling aside, he was quite pleased with a weapon that could take different forms through different crystals. Both the Funeral Blade and Thunder were formidable! With it and Creeping Hunger, Klein now felt confident he could take on a Pirate Admiral.
"Magician's Flesh Trigger is quite good too... But would a girl really appreciate the way it looks?
"Hmm... Knowing The Tower, maybe he's hoping to scare Magician into tears so he can comfort her at just the right moment...?"
After speculating uncharitably about The Tower's motives, Klein picked up the Gear Book that Derrick the Sun had sacrificed.
He hesitated for a moment, then suppressed his curiosity and chose not to divine its origins.
"This book can ignore the Snake of Mercury's Fate Cycle. If I see something like the True Creator or the White Angel during divination and damage it, I couldn't afford to replace it..." After a few self-deprecating remarks, Klein extended his Spirituality and "tapped" The Tower's Crimson Star.
