As Abner sighed to himself, the holographic images displayed by the Gear Book suddenly sped up, telling the story of what happened after the Floating City successfully took flight in a rapid montage.
It sent out exploration teams to find a route and struggled onward through the Dark Land... Even with a Barrier that drew on Dark Divine Power, the Floating City encountered countless difficulties along the way. In the end, it overcame them all.
This stage seemed to last a long time. When one team finally returned with fewer than a tenth of its original members, the images slowed considerably.
Before long, countless lights flared beneath the Floating City, and it flew at top speed in the direction from which the team had returned.
On closer inspection, the city's buildings had quietly changed as well. Four churches had risen alongside the Silver Tower.
Then, after an exceptionally grand funeral, the Floating City approached a town built against the foot of a mountain and naturally divided into upper, middle, and lower tiers... But just then, an internal conflict erupted. Houses were toppled, explosions engulfed the school, and even the Silver Tower that sustained the Barrier was seized...
The Barrier vanished. Countless monsters poured out of the darkness and into the city. This miracle of civilization soon tilted, then crashed to the ground before the town.
With it, a glimmer of civilization in the darkness went out.
