With that thought, Abner read on. The rest of Jane's letter listed examples of Cattleya acting strangely, or seemingly putting her affairs in order.
One concerned how to take control of the Future if a mutated monster appeared aboard while Cattleya happened to be away.
I thought so... Jane's worry had run away with her. This sounded more like Cattleya making emergency plans. After all, she had no way of knowing what she might do after attracting the attention of an "evil god."
But she was worrying over nothing. Mr. Fool might not even be able to beat a Pirate Admiral right now.
Abner took out pen and paper. After offering Jane a few gentle words of reassurance, he wrote with an air of mystery:
"The Admiral of Stars has likely changed because she met the person destined for her."
He folded the letter and handed it to the Bone Messenger, who had been waiting in the sitting room.
Once the towering creature, nearly four meters tall, had left, Fanny let out a breath. Patting her chest, she asked, "Was that a messenger?"
"Yes, a friend's messenger." The movement distracted Abner for a moment, but he quickly pulled back his wandering gaze.
Seeing the envy on Fanny's face, he took a bell from his pocket and offered it to her with a smile. "This bell can summon my messenger. If you pay it, I doubt it'll refuse a job on the side."
