On the surface, the town of Kabbas was like the ruins on the main peak of the Hornacis Mountain Range: there was nothing dangerous about it...
But once certain conditions were met, a person would enter the so-called Inner World and fall into a Nightmare. The deeper they went into the dream, the more terrifying it became, until they reached whatever had been hidden within it—such as the Nation of the Evernight, or this "replica" imprisoning the Queen of Calamity.
If my guess is right, the conditions that trigger "terror" and "calamity" in the real town of Kabbas lie in that church!
It's both the villagers' refuge in the Nightmare and the source of the town's crisis.
I remember Miss Justice mentioning an old saying from the town when we spoke privately: "Fall asleep, night comes, enter the church, make no sound."
The villagers all found the order strange. Normally, "night comes" should precede "fall asleep." Yet for some reason, the saying has been passed down in the town from generation to generation without ever dying out.
Now it seems someone imprinted a way to survive accidentally entering the Nightmare into the villagers' subconscious, giving them a chance to live when they encounter the dream's monsters.
I wonder who built this "replica"... It certainly doesn't look like Roselle's work...
