After Abner's private conversation with Miss Justice ended, the others resumed their customary lesson in Ancient Hermes for little Sun, while learning bits of mysticism from one another.
Time flew by. When everyone tacitly brought the discussion to a close, Klein, as the Fool, looked around and said:
"That will be all."
"As you wish." Audrey, Justice, rose at once and lifted the hem of her skirt in a curtsy. The other members followed almost simultaneously.
One blurred figure after another vanished from sight. Only after Mr. Fool had been respectfully seen off did Klein turn to the sole figure still there besides himself and ask directly:
"Do you know the Potion formula for Sequence 4 of the Seer Pathway?"
"I do." Abner nodded, then said with a note of regret, "But you asked too late... I can't tell you now."
Klein frowned. He had his suspicions, but still asked in a low voice, "Why?"
Abner thought for a moment. Rather than answer directly, he chose his words carefully. "You remember the reward the Goddess gave after the incident on the first floor of the Dream Labyrinth Tower, don't you?"
Klein asked with deliberate solemnity, "Which goddess?"
There were quite a few goddesses connected to you in that incident... the Earth Goddess, the ancient vampire goddess, the Evernight Goddess...
Abner was speechless. He wanted to roll his eyes; he was certain Klein was being difficult on purpose.
