First, Margaret was an outlier within the Demoness Sect who remained loyal to the Constantine Family. She had used the Primordial Demoness Cheek's slumber to rise through the ranks, secretly joined Roselle, and waited for a chance to restore her family's glory.

Second, Margaret had been a surviving member of the Constantine Family after Cheek destroyed it. Roselle had found and trained her, then sent her into the Demoness Sect under a new identity. With his help, she had eventually joined its upper ranks.

Abner favored the second theory. If their relationship had been no more than a partnership of convenience, Margaret was unlikely to have continued carrying out her duties as a member of the Men in Black so long after Roselle's death.
