Seeing the Sea God in Person

"Doctor, how confident are you in the signal stabilization system?"

"Then I'm going down there myself!"

Faced with Dr. Akihabara's unapologetic answer, Baimu gave up on the miniature submarine. If they surfaced and tried to descend again, only to find the Seafloor Cavern gone like last time, that would be a disaster.

Going down to investigate in person carried risks. But Lugia was gentler toward humans than most Pokémon, so while there was danger, Baimu doubted it would be too great.

Even if a fight broke out, Team Aqua's technology should at least be enough to keep them safe.

With that in mind, he followed Shelly to a small dock at the bottom of the ship. A submarine shaped like a Carvanha sat there in silence.

It looked both fierce and cool.

"The Sharpedo Submarine can hold up to ten people. Based on the miniature submarine's measurements of the entrance, we can definitely squeeze through."

Shelly pulled open the hatch and climbed in first.

Baimu followed. A narrow passage greeted him, but after a couple of steps, he could see a somewhat roomier cabin ahead.

Apart from the pilot's seat at the front, it was filled with padded seats like those on a sightseeing bus. Around them were translucent windows showing the outside—or rather, large screens displaying feeds from cameras?

He remembered the Carvanha-shaped metal hull he had seen before boarding. Surely the Pokémon World's advanced technology had not reached the point of seeing through metal.

"Prepare to depart!"

Shelly gave the order to the Team Aqua member at the controls.

A moment later.

A hum sounded, and a faint vibration rose through the floor. The waterline climbed around them until it swallowed the submarine, and the bright surroundings receded.

"A little nervous?"
