He had no desire to answer Baimu's ridiculous question, either: "Have you ever seen Jirachi before?"
If he had, he wouldn't have spent so long trying to figure out what the thing was.
All he'd done was sense an unusual fluctuation of energy and ask Baimu to take a look. Nothing that followed had been part of his plan.
Even taking the rock that contained the Fire Stone and Fire Gem had been a spur-of-the-moment decision. Since they were already there, they might as well take everything.
How was he supposed to know a Mythical Pokémon was hidden inside one of them?
"Got it."
Baimu saw Raikou turn his head away, his tail swishing irritably. He'd probably touched a nerve without realizing it.
But he had a reason for asking.
Legend said Raikou was one of the Pokémon Ho-Oh had revived at the Burned Tower 150 years ago. Baimu wondered whether he had been Raikou before his revival, or whether, as some speculated, he had been an Eevee.
Baimu had searched online for legends about the Ho-Oh Guard. The oldest he'd found was the account of Ho-Oh's arrival at the Burned Tower.

Shiny Legendary Beasts had appeared in Zoroark: Master of Illusions. Even if he couldn't find any online records of differently colored members of the Ho-Oh Guard, Crown City and the notorious criminal Kodai really did exist.
