The owner of the research institute arrived.
Dr. Akihabara sprang to his feet and hurriedly thanked him.
"Thank you so much for lending me the venue and helping me get Officer Jenny's permission. I don't know how to thank you enough..."
As the inventor of the Pokémon Transfer System and Porygon, Dr. Akihabara had already made a name for himself. But he was still young by academic standards, and he had once attended one of Dr. Nasu's public lectures at Celadon University.
"No need to be so formal, Akihabara. The priority is finding the missing Pokémon."
The elderly Dr. Nasu waved a genial hand, then said to Baimu, "I don't recognize your assistant, though. A new student of yours?"
"No, no! His name is Baimu. He's a Trainer I called in to help at the last minute! He's the one who discovered Unit Zero!"
Dr. Akihabara spoke so quickly that Baimu had no chance to introduce himself.
Baimu could only give Dr. Nasu a polite nod. "Hello."
"Oh! Hello to you too."
Dr. Nasu nodded slightly and stepped closer to study the screen for a while.
When he could make nothing of it, the old man gave Inamura a few instructions to cooperate fully with Dr. Akihabara, then turned and left.
The moment he was out the door, Dr. Akihabara relaxed like a poor student who had finally sent his teacher away. "Phew. Back when Mauville was first being built, Gym Leader Wattson said he needed Pokémon to serve as its intelligence. Dr. Nasu was the one who put us in touch. It's a shame the partnership didn't work out."
He couldn't help feeling a little regretful.
If Porygon had been installed in Mauville back then, it would probably be famous by now.
