Baimu stepped into the spot where Wallace had stood and lowered his head to consider his next move.
That Gyarados...
It was strong!
Its power level had to be high. Even boosted by rain, Aqua Tail could not have knocked out Porygon2 in one hit so easily otherwise.
Porygon2 had been holding the Eviolite the whole time.
"There might be a gap of more than ten levels... Or its Physical Attack might be trained to an extreme."
"Looks like I'm counting on you after all."
Baimu took a Poké Ball from his pocket and glanced around the battlefield.
With the second round about to begin, Light Screen and Trick Room had both ended. The rain was showing signs of stopping too. Everything was returning to how it had been at the start.
That was good news for him.
Then Wallace's laughter reached him from afar.
"Ah, what a brilliant move! I was so focused on Porygon2 that I never imagined Discharge was only meant to block my view."
The intense flash from the Electric-type move had dazzled Wallace, keeping him from noticing Corsola as it dropped. By the time he saw it, it was too late.
With Trick Room in effect, Ludicolo did not have enough strength left to withstand Corsola's Night Shade.
And, just as Juan had said, Baimu had held the tempo of the battle firmly in his hands for most of the first round.
Several times, Wallace had tried to seize the initiative again with Status Conditions or by separating Porygon2 and Corsola. Each time, Baimu had countered him and found an opening to attack.
Porygon2 and Corsola were not especially powerful attackers, but Baimu's strategy had turned Light Screen, Trick Room, Substitute, Curse, and other moves into the decisive tools behind their victory.
