Shiny Gengar floated in midair, cackling as it rubbed its chubby ghostly claws together.
Bzzzt!
A dark sphere crackling with black electricity formed and rapidly swelled. Raising both claws, Gengar hurled it at the distant Blastoise like a basketball dunk!
Caught off guard, Blastoise flailed as the Shadow Ball struck it square in the face.
Boom!
"Blas..."
A pained cry came from the rising smoke.
The chubby trainer in a red headband paled. "Blastoise!"
Seconds later, the enormous turtle staggered through the smoke, its face charred black, then toppled onto its back with spirals in its eyes.
Ding!
The commentator's excited voice rang over the speakers. "That does it! Blastoise is Unable to Battle!"
"Gehehe!"
Shiny Gengar bounced through the air like a ball, then flew back to its trainer for a high five.
Smack!
"That was fantastic!"
Across the field, the defeated Shota recalled Blastoise into its Poké Ball and waved goodbye to Baimu. The platform beneath his feet, marked with a Poké Ball design, activated and carried him out of the arena like an elevator.
Cheers rolled through the packed stands.
This was the Battle Tower.
And the chubby trainer in the red headband who had just faced him was, without question, one of the supporting characters from the movie Destiny Deoxys.
Shota, whose partner was Blastoise.
The day after the festival ended, the Battle Tower had resumed normal operations.
With some of the Grand Festival equipment removed, the tower finally showed off its high-tech side—
Including, but not limited to, a floor made of composite material that could withstand most moves.
"Come back. That's enough for today."
Baimu recalled Shiny Gengar and asked the referee to let him leave.
Disappointed cries and boos rose from the stands.
The Battle Tower had no entry requirements.
